Some simple rustic Mexican-style pergola roofs. I pre-made these so one end could be easily attached to the walls of the restaurant, and the other suspended from the ceiling. This gives maximum circulation underneath since there are no columns.
These next photos show the Auckland Viaduct branch of Mexicali Fresh. I built a very rustic bamboo raft for the ceiling, lashing with manila rope. The idea was to bring the ceiling at the entrance down to make the place feel more welcoming and cosy.
